    French Canadian Tourtiere (2 Pork Pies)

    Ingredients
      

    • lbs Minced Pork
    • 1 large onion (minced fine)
    • 1 cup bread crumbs
    • 2 tsp cinnamon
    • tsp cloves
    • ½ tsp ginger
    • salt & pepper to taste
    • water (about 1- 1½ cups per pound of meat; don’t put in too much)

    Instructions
     

    • Combine all ingredients and add enough water to cover. Stir to prevent burning. If not as thick as mashed potatoes, use a little flour to thicken.(NOTE: If you add flour, you may have to add additional spices in the proportions above so that the taste is not reduced).
    • Use your favourite pie crust (not too rich) and proceed in the usual manner with upper and lower crusts.
    • Cool filling before placing in uncooked pastry. Cook pastry until golden brown.
      Serve hot or cold.
