Faith and life are all about food!
Think about it: Adam and Eve had the apple, lamb, and unleavened bread for Passover, manna in the wilderness, the ravens feeding Elijah. And then Jesus fed the multitudes and told us He was the Bread of Life. Food and faith indeed!
I am fond of food – maybe too fond! I like to cook, and I grew up seeing food lovingly made and shared. Baking and meal preparation were a given for bazaars, church teas, and congregational gatherings. Ours was a family table where anyone was welcome.
There were special meals for birthdays and holidays. I had so many ways to see faith and love in the actions of my family and my church community. It’s still something I do. I know that in giving we receive – and that my sharing of food not only brings me joy but extends the Lord’s hospitality to others.
